Overview

ABS is one of the most versatile commodity engineering plastics — tough enough for structural sign panels, stiff enough for routed display components, and formable at moderate heat for vacuum-formed sign faces and retail displays. ABS bonds readily with ABS-MEK solvent cement, making solvent-welded structural assemblies practical without visible fasteners. The surface accepts UV and screen printing without primer on most production grades. ABS is not inherently UV-stable — for exterior sign applications use UV-grade ABS or protect with a UV-clear overcoat. 1/8" is the standard shop stock for vacuum-form blanks and panel inserts; 1/4" handles structural routed components and sign letter returns.

Key features

  • Good impact resistance with dimensional rigidity — resists damage under normal shop handling and installation
  • Bonds with ABS-MEK solvent cement for clean, fastener-free structural joints in fabricated assemblies
  • Thermoforms cleanly at 300–350°F for vacuum-formed sign faces and display element production
  • Accepts UV inks, screen printing, and paint without adhesion promoter on standard grades
  • Fabricates with standard router, table saw, drill press, and band saw — produces clean chip-free edges
  • Stocked in Black and White in 1/8" and 1/4" × 48" × 96"
